Finance, foreign ministries get new ministers as Kagame reshuffles cabinet
President Paul Kagame Wednesday made changes to his cabinet, weeks ahead of this year’s presidential election. Olivier Nduhungirehe who was Rwanda's ambassador to Netherlands was appointed the new Foreign Minister, replacing Vincent Biruta while Yussuf Murangwa was named the new Finance Minister, replacing Uzziel Ndagijimana, according to statement issued by the prime minister.
Biruta was moved into a new position as Interior Minister, while Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya was also moved from Environment Ministry into new docket as Public Service Minister.
Consolee Uwimana, former vice chairperson of the RPF was named the new Gender and Family Promotion Minister previously held by Valentine Uwamariya, who was moved into a new position as Environment Minister.
Mutesi Linda Rusagara is the new state minister for resource mobilization and public investment, while Olivier Kabera was named state minister in the infrastructure ministry.
Kagame also named former Prosecutor General, Aimable Havugiyaremye as Secretary General of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) and Maj. Gen. Joseph Nzamwita as Senior Security Advisor in the office of the president.
Also appointed is the new Prosecutor General Angelique Habyarimana, replacing Havugiyaremye, and Ivan Murenzi, the new director general of the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda, where he replaced Murangwa.
In other changes Ronald Niwenshuti was named Commissioner General of Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), to be deputized by Innocent Murasi.
