Rwanda’s inflation rise 13.6% in June
Rwanda’s annual inflation stood at 13.6% in June this year compared to the same month of 2025, according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) by the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda Friday.
The index showed that food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 7.5%, alcoholic beverages tobacco and narcotics increased by 13%, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose by 20.5%.
Health increased by 71.2%, transport was up 26%, while restaurants and hotels climbed by 15.9%.
The Consumer Price Index for June 2026 increased by 0.4% compared to May 2026.
The report also indicated that the underlying inflation rate (excluding fresh food and energy) rose by 12.3% when compared to June 2025 and it increased by 0.6% when compared to May 2026.
The annual average inflation rate between June 2026 and June 2025 was recorded at 9.3%.
