Kibungo Level II Teaching Hospital gets new ICU, expanded operating theater
A new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and an expanded, fully equipped Operating Theatre was this week inaugurated at Kibungo Level II Teaching Hospital in Ngoma district.
Developed in partnership with Operation Smile, a global non-profit organization, the new facilities were inaugurated by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Jean Marie Vianney Ndayizigiye, who said the infrastructure will significantly strengthen the hospital's surgical capacity and bring advanced, life-saving care closer to communities, reducing the need for referrals to Kigali for specialized services.
The milestone reflects the government of Rwanda’s continued commitment to expanding equitable access to quality healthcare for all, according to the ministry.
