Rwanda makes progress in anti-corruption fight: Report
Rwanda has made progress in the anti-corruption fight, achieving its highest-ever score of 58 percent, from 57 percent in 2024, according to the latest global Corruption Perception Index 2025.
Rwanda was ranked 41 out of 182 countries globally down from 43 in 2024, the report released Tuesday by corruption watchdog Transparency International showed.
In Africa, Rwanda and Botswana are joint third with a score of 58 percent, following Seychelles (first with 68 percent, down from 72 percent in 2024) and Cabo Verde (second with 62 percent).
Releasing the findings in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, officials said Rwanda’s 2025 score marks the country’s first four-year consecutive upward trend in the index, and represents its highest score and rank ever.
“Rwanda’s steady rise in the Corruption Perception Index over four consecutive years sends a powerful signal that sustained reforms, political commitment and institutional discipline can deliver real results,” Apollinaire Mupiganyi, Transparency International-Rwanda chapter Executive Director said.
